My Great Gatsby evening at The Candlelight Club

Sigh. If all parties could be this tragically glamorous.
I have always wanted to go to a speakeasy (perhaps again my infatuation with the past and all things secretly naughty and glamorous?!?) And this weekend, my friend Douglas indulged my whim and was my stylish escort for the Candlelight Club in Angel. In order to attend the Candlelight Club, you purchase your tickets in advance with the stringently guarded location emailed to a select few merely days before the event.

In a small, intimate and quite dimly lit space full of flappers, gangster molls and dapper gents, we sipped pink bubbly danced to a medley of music from the 20's, 30's and 40's.Quite fun, but as Douglas pointed out, it also kinda felt like the last supper on the Titanic, as if everyone is trying hard to enjoy a time and way of dress and excess before something bad happens! Regardless, any event full of dolls dressed in rhinestones, headbands and sparkly dresses and guys in suits, bowties and tuxes can't be all bad.....

In case you want to infuse some fun into your work day,
you too can Great Gatsby speak
